Taylor Swift is adding another iconic franchise to her résumé.

The singer has announced a brand-new original song for Toy Story 5 called I Knew It, I Knew You, inspired by Jessie, the fan-favourite cowgirl who first appeared in Toy Story 2. Swift reportedly connected with Jessie’s story right away after seeing an early version of the film and headed home to start writing.
The song was written with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and marks a return to some of the country influences that helped launch Swift’s career. Fans will be able to hear it before the movie arrives in theatres later this month.
The announcement follows days of online speculation, with Swifties dissecting mysterious Toy Story-themed clues, countdowns, and billboards that appeared in cities around the world. As usual, the internet detectives were working overtime.
For many fans, the collaboration feels like a perfect fit. After all, an entire generation grew up with both Taylor Swift songs and Toy Story movies. Bringing those two worlds together might be one of the easiest ways to make millennials emotional in 2026.
