EDMONTON — Alberta law enforcement officials are asking for the public’s help identifying a young girl believed to be the victim of a sexual assault that occurred in the Edmonton area several years ago.
The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ Internet Child Exploitation unit says evidence uncovered during a forensic examination of a child sexual exploitation investigation revealed two young girls were sexually assaulted.
Investigators were able to identify one of the victims, but the identity of the second child remains unknown.
Police believe the girl was between six and eight years old when the alleged offences occurred sometime between November 2017 and February 2019 in the Edmonton area.
In an effort to identify the child, investigators have released an image of a distinctive T-shirt the girl was seen wearing and are asking anyone who recognizes it to come forward.

The investigation stems from evidence recovered from computers and electronic devices seized from an Edmonton home belonging to Simon Lacoursiere.
Lacoursiere, 40, was charged by the Internet Child Exploitation unit in October 2025 in connection with child sexual exploitation offences and has remained in custody since then.
Police say further forensic analysis uncovered evidence suggesting additional child sexual assault victims.
Lacoursiere currently faces charges including sexual assault, sexual interference, making available and distributing child sexual abuse material, distributing obscene material and bestiality.
He remains in custody and is scheduled to stand trial in April 2027.
Anyone with information about the unidentified victim or who may have information relevant to the investigation is asked to contact the Internet Child Exploitation unit at 825-556-2423, local police or Crime Stoppers.
Anyone affected by child sexual abuse or seeking support can contact the Alberta One Line for Sexual Violence at 1-866-403-8000, available 24 hours a day, or access support through local sexual assault centres, victim services organizations or mental health professionals.
