FORT MCMURRAY — Professional wrestling is returning to Fort McMurray next weekend, with local favourite Fort Mac Maniac set to make his return to the ring.
The Fort McMurray Giants and Monster Pro Wrestling will host Father’s Day Slam at Legacy Dodge Field at Shell Place on June 20.
Organizers say the event will feature wrestlers from Monster Pro Wrestling, which has operated across Western Canada for more than two decades.
The return of Fort Mac Maniac is expected to be a highlight for local fans as the Fort McMurray wrestler competes in front of a hometown crowd.
Gates are scheduled to open at 4 p.m., with wrestling matches beginning at 6 p.m.
The event is being promoted as a family-friendly attraction during Father’s Day weekend, with organizers encouraging residents to bring family members for an evening of live entertainment.
Tickets are available through the Fort McMurray Giants website.
Josh Iannetti, general manager of the Fort McMurray Giants Baseball Club, said organizers are expecting a strong turnout for the outdoor wrestling event.
