CALGARY — Suncor Energy is preparing for a leadership change, with president and CEO Rich Kruger set to move into a new role next year and Peter Zebedee selected to succeed him.
The company says Kruger will become executive vice-chair in April 2027, while Zebedee, currently executive vice-president of upstream, will become president and CEO.
Suncor says the changes are part of a succession process led by its board of directors and are intended to provide continuity following what the company describes as a successful transformation under Kruger’s leadership.
As part of the transition, Zebedee will become president and chief financial officer on Sept. 14, overseeing the company’s non-operating functions while working alongside Kruger ahead of the CEO change.
Zebedee joined Suncor in 2022 and has more than 30 years of energy industry experience. He previously served as CEO of LNG Canada and has held positions with Shell, Petro-Canada and Syncrude.
Adam Albeldawi will replace Zebedee as executive vice-president of upstream on Sept. 14, while Shelley Powell will become executive vice-president of development and projects.
Suncor also says former chief financial officer Troy Little is no longer with the company.
