RCMP released surveillance image of vandalism suspect
FORT McMURRAY — Wood Buffalo RCMP have obtained surveillance footage of a suspect as they continue investigating a series of vehicle thefts and vandalism reported last month.
Police released an image from the footage Tuesday and are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect.
The investigation began after RCMP received 11 reports of vehicle-related thefts and vandalism in downtown Fort McMurray on July 26, along with reports of numerous vehicles being damaged in the Gregoire neighbourhood.
Police say multiple vehicles had their windows smashed during incidents reported between 1:22 a.m. and 6:54 p.m.
In one case, a vehicle’s trunk was forced open and several items were stolen, including tools, laptops and golf clubs.
Vehicles on Greely Road, Manning Avenue and Fraser Avenue were among those affected.

RCMP initially asked residents and businesses to check surveillance cameras and motorists to review dash camera footage from the areas involved.
Police say the investigation remains ongoing and are now specifically seeking information which could help identify the suspect captured in the newly obtained surveillance footage.
