Fans are mourning the sudden loss of actress Hayden Panettiere, who has died at the age of 36.
Panettiere was best known for her roles as Claire Bennet on Heroes and Juliette Barnes on Nashville. She also appeared in movies including Remember the Titans, Bring It On: All or Nothing, Scream 4 and Scream VI.
Her death was confirmed by her representative on Sunday, August 16. According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, emergency responders were called to a residence in Greenville, South Carolina, where Panettiere was found unresponsive and in cardiac arrest. Attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful, and she was pronounced dead at 2:32 p.m.
An autopsy was completed, and officials say there were no signs of trauma that contributed to her death. Her official cause and manner of death are still pending further investigation and additional testing.
Panettiere began acting as a child and built a career across television, film and music. Her role as Juliette Barnes on Nashville also allowed her to showcase her singing, with several of the show’s songs becoming popular with fans.
Her father has asked for privacy as the family deals with what he described as an unimaginable loss. Panettiere leaves behind her daughter, Kaya, and a career that made her a familiar face to an entire generation of television and movie fans.
She was just days away from her 37th birthday.
