FORT MCMURRAY — A winning ticket worth nearly $67,000 remains unclaimed after the Winning Split 50/50 raffle raised more than $133,000 during the Wood Buffalo Ribfest weekend.
Ticket D-23656 was selected in the Sept. 8 draw after ticket sales closed the previous night. The winner will receive $66,885.
The remaining proceeds are being divided equally between the Canadian Mental Health Association Wood Buffalo Region and the Local HERO Foundation, with each organization receiving $33,442.50.
“What this community accomplished in a single weekend is absolutely amazing,” said Chris Wilson, CEO and managing partner of Birch Mountain Enterprises, the raffle’s official partner.
“Every ticket sold was an act of generosity, and the result is a life-changing prize for one lucky winner and meaningful support for two organizations doing pivotal work in Wood Buffalo.”
The holder of ticket D-23656 has 30 days to present the winning ticket and claim the prize. Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket is being asked to contact the Local HERO Foundation.
Lorna Ash of the Local HERO Foundation said money raised through the raffle helps support critical air medical transportation in the region.
“When a medical emergency happens in this region, a medevac flight can be the difference between life and death,” Ash said.
Susan Goll, executive director of CMHA Wood Buffalo Region, said its share of the proceeds will remain in Wood Buffalo and support local mental health programs and services.
The Winning Split is held in conjunction with Wood Buffalo Ribfest. Half of the raffle proceeds go to the winning ticket holder, with the other half divided equally between CMHA Wood Buffalo and the Local HERO Foundation.
