FORT MCMURRAY — A Wood Buffalo RCMP food drive collected more than 1,000 pounds of food along with cash and gift cards for the Wood Buffalo Food Bank.
Police held the Stuff a Police Cruiser event Sept. 17 at Joly’s Your Independent Grocer in Timberlea.
RCMP say residents donated 1,085 pounds of non-perishable food valued at $4,025.35.
The event also brought in $235 in cash and $55 in gift cards.
All donations were provided to the Wood Buffalo Food Bank to support individuals and families in the community.
Wood Buffalo RCMP thanked residents who stopped by to donate and also recognized Joly’s Your Independent Grocer for supporting the event.
Police say the response shows what can be accomplished when the community comes together to support people in need.
