FORT MCMURRAY — Sport Wood Buffalo Association has received a $15,000 grant from the Canada Post Community Foundation to help launch a mobile sport equipment program for children and youth across the region.
The funding will support programing designed to bring sport and recreation opportunities directly to rural, remote, Indigenous and underserved communities in Wood Buffalo.
Canada Post says the goal is to reduce barriers to participation and encourage active, healthy lifestyles among children and youth.
Sport Wood Buffalo is one of several organizations across the country receiving funding through the foundation this year.
A total of $1.3 million in grants has been awarded to charities, schools and community groups, with funding raised and distributed within each province and territory.
