Well, this is a little upsetting. By the end of 2026, the youngest Millennials will be turning 30. That means there will officially be no Millennials left in their 20s. NONE.
Millennials are generally considered to be people born between 1981 and 1996, which means anyone born in 1996 turns 30 this year. If you were born in 1995 or earlier, congratulations! You’ve already entered your 30s, whether you’re emotionally prepared for that or not.
Remember when turning 30 seemed SO OLD? Now we’re the ones making noises when we stand up, getting excited about a new vacuum, and cancelling plans because we’d rather stay home.
We’re also the generation that grew up with dial-up internet, burned CDs, flip phones, Blockbuster, and having to wait until you got home to find out if someone called you. We survived low-rise jeans the first time around, and now they’re trying to bring them back. Some things should stay in the past.
And let’s not forget that a lot of Millennials are now dealing with the ultimate reality check: the music we grew up listening to is considered classic rock or oldies by younger generations. Excuse me? Eminem is not oldies. Blink-182 is not oldies. Please stop doing this to us.
The good news? Turning 30 isn’t actually the end of the world. The bad news? We’re now the adults we used to think had everything figured out. Spoiler alert: most of us are still Googling how long chicken lasts in the fridge.
So, if you were born in 1996, enjoy these final months of your 20s. And if you’re an older Millennial, maybe take a moment to stretch before getting off the couch.
The question is: What’s the biggest sign that you’re officially getting older? Is it going to bed at 9 p.m., getting excited about a grocery sale, or realizing the songs you loved as a teenager are now over 20 years old?
Asking for a friend. Who is definitely not in bed by 9.
