FORT MCMURRAY — Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Dianna de Sousa has received national recognition for her leadership of the local business organization.
De Sousa was named Canadian Executive of the Year for Mid-sized Chambers by the Canadian Chambers of Commerce at an event in Victoria, B.C.
The award recognizes her work leading the Fort McMurray Chamber, including advocating for the region’s business community and representing Wood Buffalo on a broader stage.
The Fort McMurray Chamber said the recognition reflects de Sousa’s work supporting local businesses and ensuring the region’s interests are represented nationally.
“Strong leadership means showing up, speaking up, and working tirelessly for the people and businesses you represent,” the Chamber said in announcing the award.
“Dianna does exactly that, and we couldn’t be prouder to see her efforts recognized on the national stage.”
The national honour follows provincial recognition earlier this year.
De Sousa was also named the 2026 Alberta Chamber Executive of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Alberta, sharing the award with Southeast Alberta Chamber of Commerce executive director Lisa Dressler.
The Alberta award recognizes chamber leaders for excellence in chamber management, membership growth and engagement, innovative programming, community leadership and contributions to the broader chamber network.
At the time, the Fort McMurray Chamber credited de Sousa’s vision and ability to bring people together and turn ideas into action with helping strengthen the organization, support its members and advance the Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo business community.
