If you’re a Britney Spears fan, especially if you were around for the early 2000s, this is a pretty fun surprise.
Britney has released a previously unreleased song called “She’ll Never Be Me,” and it actually dates all the way back to 2001. It was originally recorded for her self-titled album Britney, which gave us hits like “I’m a Slave 4 U,” “Overprotected” and “I’m Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman.”
But here’s where it gets interesting: the song was co-written by Britney and her then-boyfriend Justin Timberlake.
Yes, THAT Justin Timberlake.
The two were dating at the time, and the song is about an ex moving on with someone who looks like Britney, with the message that nobody else can really replace her. I mean, considering how their relationship eventually ended, the timing of this song feels pretty interesting.
Justin helped write it, but he doesn’t actually sing on the track.
The release is part of a 25th anniversary edition of Britney, which is set to arrive November 6. It will include several previously unreleased and rare tracks from that era.

It’s basically a little time capsule from the days of low-rise jeans, flip phones, frosted lip gloss and arguing with your friends about whether you were Team Britney or Team Christina.
And honestly, hearing a song from that era for the first time in 2026 is pretty cool.
Have you listened to “She’ll Never Be Me” yet? And what’s your favourite Britney Spears song from the early 2000s?
