Suspect in hospital after gun shot from Wood Buffalo RCMP officer

Alberta RCMP are cooperating in an investigation after a Wood Buffalo RCMP officer shot a suspect believed to be involved in an earlier hit and run. 

Thursday morning at around 9:00 AM, officers part of the Crime Reduction Unit noticed a vehicle on Confederation Way and Highway 63 that was believed to be part of a recent hit-and-run collision. After a brief altercation with the man located with the vehicle, the officer shot the alleged suspect in the lower leg. The man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and no one else was injured in the matter. 

The Director of Law Enforcement was immediately contacted. The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) have moved in to lead this investigation.
